about

I wrote Epitaph after I'd been playing Fallout 3 for about 6 months, this was while Bush was still in the White House.

I was thinking that if there ever were a (nuclear) third world war, it would probably be the west that started it out of fear or a resurgence in the Christian right-wing movement.

I.e. a lack of common sense and talking / co-operation with foreign powers to achieve common goals.

lyrics

There’s a rising in the east
Building nukes in self defence
But it’s not they that threaten peace
It’s a lack of common sense

This may be the last song that you’ll ever hear
This may be the last lament of our golden age
Our violent nature begs a stage

Objects cannot start a war
Tools do not possess free will
They don’t take decisions or
Of their own volition kill

This may be the last song that you’ll ever hear
This may be the last lament of our golden age
Our violent nature begs a stage

While the politicians hide
A religious menace creeps
Fear the house of tarnished white
For it dreams of legacy

This may be the last song that you’ll ever hear
This may be the last lament of our golden age
Our violent nature begs a stage

So an orphan kneels before a broken headstone
Brambles scratching at bare skin in silent times
No one left to tend the gardens or the hedgerows
As the radiation kills off what survived

This is our Epitaph, for all our guile and craft,
We made war and made it well
So well we could not save ourselves
Too well

about

The Red Pills Leeds, UK

The Red Pills took their name from the 1999 movie 'The Matrix.' In one scene, Keanu Reeves' character 'Neo' is presented with a choice of pills to ingest; a red pill or a blue pill. Each is a metaphor - taking the blue pill will allow Neo to continue to live a cosy, comfortable lie. Taking the red pill will allow him to wake up to the truth. ... more
