about

Deals with the circumstances of Doctor Who's initial demise in the 80s with some comparisons to events in the final serial 'Survival.'

'If we fight like animals, we die like animals' is a line spoken by the Doctor as a warning to his best enemy, The Master. In the song, we're using it to highlight fandom's fractious factions during the 80s.

The chorus is of course, almost word for word the final speech the Doctor makes while walking off into the sunset with Ace.

lyrics

Smell the blood upon the wind, Grade and Powell made a kill
Stalked their prey and brought it down, in Coronation Street they found
A predator to pick the bones, they ridiculed and then disowned
Executive decisions trap, it’s TV wasteland, long way back

If we fight like animals we die like animals x2

There are worlds out there, where the sky is burning
And the sea’s asleep and the rivers dream
People made of smoke, cities made of song
Somewhere there’s danger, or injustice
Somewhere else, the tea’s getting cold

When we re-watch the end today, just like the youth club things have changed
We still enjoy but miss the glee, in childhood’s safe warm memories
The animals that killed our show, ripped from us our great hero
Despite old wounds from eager claws, we lost the battle, won the war

If we fight like animals we die like animals x2

There are worlds out there, where the sky is burning
And the sea’s asleep and the rivers dream
People made of smoke, cities made of song
Somewhere there’s danger, or injustice
Somewhere else, the tea’s getting cold

Come on Ace we’ve got work to do x4
Come on Ace we’ve got work to do-oo-oo-oo-ooooo

The Red Pills Leeds, UK

The Red Pills took their name from the 1999 movie 'The Matrix.' In one scene, Keanu Reeves' character 'Neo' is presented with a choice of pills to ingest; a red pill or a blue pill. Each is a metaphor - taking the blue pill will allow Neo to continue to live a cosy, comfortable lie. Taking the red pill will allow him to wake up to the truth. ... more
